Music Labels Join For Japan Relief


The four major record labels have joined together to create a music compilation in which all proceeds go directly to Japan relief efforts, specifically the Japan Red Cross.

The compilation, which is titled “Songs for Japan”, features Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, John Lennon’s “Imagine”, as well as many other songs from artists like Eminem and Adele.


The compilation was announced by Sony Entertainment Music, EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group on Friday (25/03). The 38 song compilation is available on itunes for $9.99. On top of this, a two disc CD.

The artists participating on “Songs for Japan,” the music labels and music publishers have waived their royalties and proceeds from the worldwide sales of the album to ensure that the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) receives as much support as possible from this global initiative. iTunes will also donate its proceeds from the album’s worldwide sales to the benefit of the JRCS. iTunes has also prominently featured the project throughout its stores worldwide.
